Duck LOvers Adoptions was founded in 1989 by Denise Arasin. Our mission is to educate the public about proper housing and care for ducks and geese and to be an information clearinghouse on getting abandoned and homeless ducks healthy and into safe and LOving homes.We cooperate and work with a variety of partners including Petfinders and our local animal shelters in the advertising and placement of waterfowl in appropriate foster care and homes.To find out more about us and our programs please contact our director Denise Arasin atducluv at earthlink.netDenise started as a wild duck rehabilitator and was very successful rehabbing and releasing injured wild ducks back to their native environments. Trained in the veterinary field 22 years and inspired by Suncoast Seabird Sanctuary in Pinellas Florida, she apprenticed in a high quality avian practice. Denise started one of the first large teams in Southern California assisting and training volunteers in proper care of wild ducks assisting in oil spill recovery with OSPR Sea World, and assisting the US Fish and Game, and US Fish and Wildlife Department. She also worked with local animal welfare agencies to investigate issues regarding cruelty to domestic ducks and geese.Realizing after 8 years of hands on caring and local natural disasters, like the El Nino, there was no where for the public to bring domestic ducks and geese, or to assist in rehoming, Denise started an out of pocket agency to do this completely run by donations from the public. She has rescued over 1000 domestic pets in just the past few years. She was on the cutting edge of learning successful waterfowl rehab techniques used to save waterfowl in the late 80s.
